Research is a key foundation to the design process. It creates the building blocks in the design process – to understand the product, its market and the clients’ requirements – and helps to direct the ideation process from day one. The process can also confirm or challenge the assumptions and requirements of the brief. Key elements of research are image mapping, competitor analysis, brand definition, and analysis of market trends and influences. Understanding brand and reflecting its messages in our concepts helps to translate Brand DNA into design intent.

2D Concept Generation

Our team of dedicated designers offer innovative and imaginative design solutions for exterior and interior. Our designers produce a wide range of hand-sketch concepts, exploring all avenues to arrive at creative designs for the project. Clients are fully engaged in the selection process, from the very first designs, up to the final high-quality theme renderings.

High-quality photorealistic renderings are created to give the best visual interpretation of the concept. The latest Wacom Cintiq digital tablets are used in the visualisation process to enable clients to fully appreciate and interact with the design at an early stage. Multiple variations can be generated to demonstrate colour and trim harmony options.

In the virtual world, our team use the latest Automotive CAD software such as Alias, ICEM and CATIA to develop ‘A’ class surfaces. This is an accurate and cost-effective approach to achieve the quality that is expected in the Automotive sector. Surfacing work is developed at any stage of the design process, from a basic sketch to scan data from a physical model. For added reality and greater client interaction, we use rendering software such as VRED linked to Power-wall virtual reality real-time animation; clients can fully immerse themselves in the design and gain a greater understanding of the detail and scale. Multiple configurations to colour and specification changes can quickly be viewed, enabling customers to confirm early on their desired options.

3D Models

The physical incarnation of any design is the most exciting and important stage in the design process. This is where the 2D design concept coupled with package and engineering criteria comes together in a 3-dimensional form that fully represents the designers’ vision and best promotes the overall aesthetic language.

We offer both manually and digitally created models at full size or scale. The model medium of clay offers great flexibility to explore different surface and detail solutions. We encourage clients to work alongside our designers and fully interact with the physical form to help shape an opinion on the design direction. This is also aided at the point where models are fully dressed for presentation, providing a high level of confidence to move on to the next phase. Our designers support the process to ensure that the design intent is maintained throughout the transition into 3D and the level of craftsmanship is as expected.

3D Prototyping/Hard Modelling

To bring designs to life, we offer all types of rapid prototyping to support the creation of detailed individual components up to full show car and prototype builds. Functional prototypes aid the design process by quickly reproducing data in the physical form to allow critique and further development. Models can also be simple and functional, such as package bucks that allow the customer to physically feel the space. This helps to identify opportunities for the design early in the process, in a cost-effective manner.

This form of design encompasses many aspects of visual communication. Outputs range from logo design in print and physical form to brand identity, computer generated digital displays and vehicle graphics.

Web development is key to promoting your business services and online presence. We design both static HTML and CMS websites that can fully reflect your brand messages and image.

Colour & Trim

The form of any design is crucial and is strongly supported by material selection, colour harmony and grain development. The colour palette of a product can help to differentiate base models from the luxury end, as well as create totally different mood effects. A wide selection of automotive materials can be offered as well as bespoke trim designs.
