Job Specification

Role:                    Lead CAD Designer – Body Interiors

Basis:                   Full time permanent contract (Grade 5E) or consultancy

Start Date:         ASAP

Reports to:         Chief Engineer

Rate:                    Salary £45-60K plus benefits, subject to negotiation dependant on experience

Based:                 Coventry (with possible weekly visits to the Essex and some overseas travel)

Emerald Automotive Limited need to recruit a Lead CAD Designer to lead design activities within the Body Interior team. The role will be to coordinate and lead the successful delivery of Body Interior CAD data for new models and follow on derivative products.

The Role

  • Lead an element of the Body Interior CAD team to undertake the design and packaging of Body Interior and body system parts within a CATIA V5 environment
  • Deliver system designs to meet the requirements of technical specifications in accordance with Emerald and Tier 1 design guidelines and standards
  • Plan design activities to fulfil the requirements of the company’s engineering timing release system, considering timing dependencies with other systems where necessary
  • Represent the Body Interior Department in design and release reviews, delegating to other Body CAD designers as necessary. These can be external as well as internal designers
  • Develop concepts and mature final system designs to weight, cost and serviceability targets with confirmation through analysis

The Person

  • Demonstrable experience in a CATIA V5 environment
  • Experience of leading a small team and working in/for medium volume vehicle projects would be advantageous
  • Excellent communication and co-ordination skills - at ease working with a cross-functional team of engineers and suppliers
  • Ability to clearly communicate and/or describe information relating to Body Exterior component design or packaging to personnel who may not have significant knowledge of Body Intior and body systems
  • Flexible, enthusiastic individual who is self-motivated, able to work well under own initiative and remain focused under pressure
  • Possession of a product design, engineering or similar honours Engineering Degree. Other recognised engineering qualifications combined with relevant significant experience may be considered
